Good day, I just came back from the 60th General Service Conference in New-York (well, Port Westchester in the State of NY this year). Since I was only a translator and not a delegate, I heard everything, but was not able to go to the microphone. I heard things which made my ears itch, even though I'm not a member of A.A. Anyway, if ever it's possible for a non-A.A. member to submit an article for The Grapevine, I hereby submit mine! It is attached, in MS-Word format. If it's not possible, well, at least help ease my pain by passing copies of this text to your coworkers! I'm not in A.A., so I don't need to remain anonymous, and moreover I love feedback. Actually, I'd love to have some kind of public debate over the Internet about the topic of my article. (Of course, I would hide the names of any A.A. members who would want to participate.) Thanks, Stefan Jetchick Attachment (MS-Word)

Thank you for your submission. We read every article we get very carefully, so it takes 6 to 8 weeks before we'll get back to you with a decision. In the meantime, please know how much we appreciate your contribution and this service to AA. Thanks for your patience! The AA Grapevine Editorial Assistant

No rush. Actually, I've already received feedback from "La Vigne A.A." in Quebec (I sent them the French translation at the same time I sent you the English version). The Editor (Pierre V.) made me realize some things might be misunderstood in my article, so I changed the conclusion a bit, and added a "Post-scriptum". (I don't consider this Post-scriptum essential, but it might help the Grapevine staff understand what I'm trying to say.) Could you delete the old version, and use this new version instead? Also, could you forward it to Ms. Dorothy H.? She was at the Conference and will probably remember me. Since my article talks about a very sensitive topic, it might be better if "the boss" had a look at it. Maybe she can help me keep my foot out of my mouth! :-) Thanks again, Stefan Jetchick MS-Word document attached

While I don't think we'll be using it, we are grateful for your interest in the magazine and hope you'll feel free to send us more material in the future. As you can imagine, we receive hundreds of manuscripts every month and many good manuscripts must be turned down because of space limitations. For more information about the Grapevine, its related items, including subscription information, guidelines for submitting articles, and current Calls for Articles, please see our Website: www.aagrapevine.org. Best wishes, The Editors The AA Grapevine magazine
