Good day Sirs,
A buddy of mine called my attention to your web site and
initiative (which I had not heard about).
Since I have a special charisma for pointing out
other people's little mistakes, and a special blindness to
the huge beams in my eyes, I thought you might enjoy
if I self-appointed myself as a review committee for your
web site.
... Hummm, something is not right in the preceding
paragraph!
;-)
Seriously, I really do think we need a new Holy League,
and I dearly want to help anybody who is doing anything
to defend our poor Mother Church who is being so
abused these days (often by members of Her own clergy,
and not just those at the bottom of the hierarchy...).
So here are a few tidbits of criticism which I hope will
be constructive.
First, the ".com" TLD ("Top-Level Domain") is called ".com"
because it is an abbreviation of "Commercial". Maybe
an ".org" would have been more appropriate (I assume your
Holy League is not there to make a profit.)
Second, the official language of the Catholic Church
is still Latin, so your logo (which by the way is very
good looking) should perhaps be "Zuhlsdorfisized" into
Latin. (For example, French-Canadian Catholics around
here would find it a bit annoying to join something
that had only English smack on the logo.)
Third, masks are for terrorists. When you hit the "Contact"
button on your web site, it should lead to a page with
names and addresses and pictures of the people responsible.
Not just an anonymous e-mail (admin at holyleague.com)
the way it currently works.
Fourth, your web site invites us all to "Join The Holy
Alliance!" But with who? The "Contact" page doesn't
mention anybody behind the web site, and the "Partnering
Speakers" and "Partnering Ministries" sections are empty.
Another reason to put names and pictures in the
"Contact" page! (You are welcome to put my name and picture
if you want, since I agree with your initiative.)
Fifth, the name "Holy League" might be a case of "verbal
inflation". As your web site helpfully explains:
Pope St. Pius V formed the original Holy League in
response to the dire situation in which Christian
Europe found itself in 1571. Small bands of Catholic
men and remnant armies from various nations came
together under the spiritual leadership of the
saintly pontiff and the military leadership of Don
John of Austria. By prayer and fasting, they
implored the help of God's grace, through the
intercession of the Mother of God, and, by the grace
of Almighty God, on October 7, 1571, at the Battle
of Lepanto, the Christian fleet won a crushing
victory over the Ottoman Turks, saving Christendom
and western civilization.

In other words, the real Holy League is a military league. We
are talking about Christian soldiers, combat, firearms, blood,
toil, sweat and tears.
Not a prayer group.
The vision for your new "Holy League" is:
"[...] to develop a network of parish based regular monthly
Holy Hours with confession and fraternity for men."

That sounds very good! But it still sounds like a prayer group.
I'm not suggesting that you should re-name your initiative to
something more truthful like:
"The Holy Ballerina League"
... but ... still, there is something strange with the
appropriation of a name historically related to real he-men,
real soldiers, who go to real combat.
Please don't misunderstand me. I'm all in the favor of:
"Eucharistic adoration, prayer, short spiritual
reflections, the availability of the Sacrament of
Confession, Benediction and fraternity; encourages
consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the
Immaculate Heart of Mary, and the Purest Heart of
Joseph; promotes the Precepts and Sacraments of the
Church; especially through devotion to the Most
Blessed Sacrament and the praying of the Most Holy
Rosary; creates a unified front, made up of members
of the Church Militant [...]"

It's just that the expression "Holy League" and the
military-looking logo might be more appropriate for
he-men who unite for something like this:
Onward Canadian Soldiers! Marching As To War!
