Objet: Invitation to the Quebec City Life Chain
Sirs,
Every first Sunday of October, all over North America, Christians gather on sidewalks to peacefully pray for one hour, while holding one of the following approved pro-life sign messages:
Abortion kills children
Jesus forgives and heals
Adoption: the loving option
Lord, forgive us and our nation
Abortion hurts women
Pray to end abortion
Life - the first inalienable right
Every year, many Catholic Bishops (English-Canadian and American) participate in the Life Chain in their city, and encourage all their faithful to also participate.
It would be wonderful if you could come and pray with us for one hour! It would be even more wonderful if you organized yourself your own Life Chain on that day! Indeed, the Life Chain movement is organized in a very informal way. (We could say in theological terms that each Chain is "autocephalous".)
I'm including a copy of the flyer containing all the relevant information. Moreover, our whole team is of course at your disposal if you need help. (Don't forget the signs can only have the seven approved messages, and no graphics. Moreover, in a given Chain, half the signs must be "Abortion kills children".)
Ideally, each Parish in the Quebec Diocese would form its own "Chain", and would place itself somewhere along the main roadway formed by Laurier Boulevard and the Grande-Allée. That way, a few months after your magnificient speech "For A New Culture Of Life" on May 14th 2009 in Ottawa, a bit as if you had struck the hard pro-choice rock with the rod of your words, a massive "Pro-choice river" would appear, parallel to the Saint-Laurence River, this October 4th 2009!
